Creating Excellent Storyboards

Storyboards are a visual communication tool used in many aspects of business- whether its a team project launch, a sales presentation or just clear visual communications for better company relations.

Graphics and visuals in storyboards are very important. Storyboards help you plan the sequence and organize your thoughts. They can be presented in a slide presentation, pdf or in print.

The role of graphics in communicationhas been increasing. A century ago, most communication relied on speech and listening skills, whether in live stage productions or around the family dinner table. Even a generation ago, a visual aid in education often meant only a single photograph passed from person to person or a sketch on the chalkboard. Nowadays, graphics either replace or reinforce the oral message. And today's graphics appear everywhere and in such brief flashes that viewers may be hardly aware of some of them. So they need to be effective!

Here are some basic design principles for you to follow when developing your visuals:

  1. Keep it simple.
  2. Leave lots of white space.
  3. Keep it organized.
  4. Create a path for the eye.
  5. Make something dominant.
  6. Divide the space in an interesting way.

Some more suggestions:

  • You need to put a headline on every visual.
  • Since our goal is to present ideas in an easy to understand way, then we want to only present one idea on a page.
  • If you have a words-only slide, make the first letter large to anchor the page.
  • If you use photos or graphics, make sure that they are facing the text on the page- not off to the side.
  • Also if you can, add frames to objects that can pull two elements together.

If you need to add more excitement to your presentations, please give us a call (303-527-2978)! We have excellent graphic artists on our team to make your presentation wow your audience!

Channel Marketing Strategies

Do you need more sales?

One great way to grow your business is to find partners that are already catering to your same market and team up with them to grow both of your businesses. The use of new channels of distribution frequently offers opportunities to gain a competitive advantage. A company with strong distribution channels can sometimes successfully market a product that isn't as strong as a competitor's.

These valuable channels of distribution are not static. They must be managed to grow. Active communication methods must be used to manage and support these partners. We offer a tool for free on our website that has been used to successfully manage the sales flow and communications between channel partners. It is called a Sales Funnel Sheet and can be found at http://www.mason-works.com/FreeResources.htm. We have several other tools available, so please call or email us if you need help.
